In Mpingwe Malawi, southeastern
Africa - Qubix is designing and building Industrial 3D printers, robotics
and CNC technologies to automate manufacturing process in order to accelerate
E-Mobility, Medical and Space technologies. Today (30th
August,2022), Qubix has unveiled their high performance Q500 series of Industrial
3D printers (design) that will mainly be used for Qubix’s high tech 3D printing
farm to accelerate industrial hardware manufacturing.
Qubix Robotics is a digital
manufacturing startup company headquartered in Blantyre, Malawi. Qubix mission
is to develop eco-friendly smart factories to manufacture Electric vehicles,
Medical and Space hardware products using additive manufacturing as a primary
manufacturing solution. Q500 Industrial 3D printers will be used in Qubix
additive manufacturing farm. The Q500s with the help of Atlantis (Qubix server
computer) will be used for cloud manufacturing to allow companies, Institutions
and individuals to design and 3D print their physical components/objects and
also monitoring their work progress remotely in real time through their mobile
devices.
Q500 3D printers which are
currently under development will be available for market in mid-2023. Qubix has
decided to manufacture their own technology locally for manufacturing
sustainability, independency, affordability and high-efficiency production.
Qubix is developing a smart
factory by designing and building their own next gen technologies to achieve
sustainable future for industrialization development in Africa.
What features and benefits to
expect from Qubix first generation 3D printers, Q500s?
There are two
3D printers that are being developed under Qubix; Q500HP which is high
performance and Q500S which is an industrial standard build.
·
High speed performance: Using high performance ARM Cortex + SMT32 microchips and advanced
driving mechanism in our 3D printers especially Q500hp which doesn’t use
cartesian driving system will be 10x faster than most 3D printers currently on
market
·
Agile
manufacturing: What used to
take months now will be matter of hours, additive manufacturing eliminates long
supply chain. We will be able to print components directly from raw materials
sourced locally, no shipping cost and time delays
·
High volume
print: Q500 series will be able to print
life size components in a single print to avoid micro assembling so to increase
durability of components
·
Cloud
manufacturing (IoT): Qubix 3D
printing farm will give our clients/partners an access to upload their desired
design, print, stop/pause or resume and also monitoring their work progress
from anywhere in the world through internet
·
Energy
consumption: Additive
manufacturing uses less energy than traditional methods of manufacturing. Q500
has equipped with couple of sensors to monitor and save energy
·
Eco friendly: 3D printing reduces GHG emission unlike tradition production line
and it also reduces the production waste from manufacturing process
·
Cost
efficiency: Save a lot
money by printing spare parts/components inhouse.
·
Material
variation: Q500s will be able to print all
types of polymers including high temperature polymers like Nylon without any
problem.
Ø Print polymers at above 500 ⁰C
Ø Print 2 types of polymers or colors at once
Specifications:
·
Power off
resume: Be able to resume /continues printing
when power is back without losing your work
·
Automatic
shutdown: Saving power by shutting down
machines when the printing is done
·
Dual color
and material 3D printing: print
different color and material at once
·
Dual spool: In addition to color and materials, this feature will allow the
machine to automatically switch materials when one feeder is empty.
·
Filament
detection: Detecting when filament has cut
off or spool is empty
·
Temperature
controlled chamber: The fully
temperature and humidity-controlled chamber allows users to print high
temperature industrial polymers/materials
·
50%
transparent view: 50% of the
frame is covered by transparent glass panel to allow the users to see and
monitor the work progress.
·
Multiple
interfaces: Through the
use of inbuild LCD or mobile device, users will have options to operate or
control the machine according to their preferences
As Qubix is getting closer to
their smart factory goal, the locally build Industrial 3D printers will give
them a high chance to eliminate the cost of shipping, production line and it
will give them freedom for design alteration, agile prototyping and speedup
manufacturing of Electric Vehicles in Malawi.
Qubix is designing different
digital manufacturing technologies to accelerate automobility and
industrialization in Africa.
